The CAT, Bar Harbor → Yarmouth

A 3½-hour high-speed crossing, mid-May to mid-October. It lands about 7:30 pm Atlantic time — a light-bites menu and a bottle of wine wait for package guests who miss the last seating.

Schedules & fares

The last 3 miles are the Trout Point Road — dirt and gravel, off the East Branch Road and Hwy 203. Two EV chargers (one Tesla) at the lodge.

  • Running shoes
  • A windbreaker and a rain jacket
  • Swimsuits — hot tub, kayak, river
  • Warm socks and hiking pants in spring and fall
  • Shorts for summer, yoga wear if you like
  • Sunglasses, a hat, sunscreen
  • A camera — and its charger

Policies

The small print.

The lodge runs a short season in a remote place, so its deposit and cancellation terms are firm. In short:

Deposit and payment

A C$150 deposit secures a reservation; the balance is paid at check-out. Ten room-nights or more need a 25 % non-refundable deposit, the balance 60 days before arrival.

A 10 % service charge goes to the staff in place of tips — tipping is neither anticipated nor expected.

Cancellations and changes

More than 90 days out: the deposit stays as credit for a year. 31–90 days: the deposit is forfeited. 15–30 days: 50 % of the stay. 14 days or less: 100 %.

No refunds for non-arrival, unused nights or travel and weather disruptions; leaving early counts as cancelling the remaining nights. Cancellations must be in writing.

Taxes and charges

Rates, packages and food & drink exclude the 10 % service charge and 14 % HST; a 3 % Argyle Marketing Levy applies to the room rate.

Adults only

Guests are 18 and over. Younger children are welcome when a single group books the whole lodge.

Extra guests

Deluxe Junior Suites take up to four; each extra person is C$110 a night with breakfast, activities and facilities. Every other suite is for two.

Dogs

Well-behaved dogs over 18 months are welcome in all Beaver Hall suites; the first stays free, each further pet C$42 a day. Reserve ahead, leash in public spaces. Main Lodge suites are pet-free.

Arrival and departure

Check-in 3 pm, check-out 11 am. Please tell the lodge your arrival time — it's remote, and there's no cell coverage on the last miles.

Leaving on the 9:30 am CAT ferry? Ask the night before for a gourmet packed breakfast.

Gift cards

Gift cards for stays and services are valid for two seasons; cash-value cards never expire. Not redeemable for cash.
